Katia Beaugeais is an Australian-French composer and saxophonist based in Sydney. She is a Vandoren Paris and Selmer Sax Artist.
Since winning the prestigious International Society for Contemporary Music Young Composer Award, her music has been performed throughout Europe, UK, America, Canada, Asia, Peru and Australasia, and featured on BBC Radio 3, Radio France, Boulevard des Productions French TV, ABC Radio National The Music Show, Australian Chamber Orchestra’s worldwide playlist celebrating “incredible female artists”, Donne UK’s Women Composers’ International Global Forum, and by the legendary Jean-Marie Londeix at the Strasbourg Conservatoire.

Beaugeais’ solo saxophone and string orchestra music are currently the main theme music for ABC New Waves and ABC Classic Breakfast radio.

Recent ABC Classic releases include Women of Note Vol. 3, 4 and 5, Best of Australian Classical Music, and Beaugeais’ debut ABC saxophone album, Breath by Breath, named after her own circular breathing soprano sax piece, where she also performs new Australian music composed specially for her.

Beaugeais’ music has been performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton, Royal Australian Navy Band, Colonel Higuchi and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Central Band, Grammy-nominated Sony Sax artist Amy Dickson, Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship players, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Biennale, Texas Woman’s University Wind Symphony, Prof. Kyle Horch and London’s Royal College of Music Saxophone Orchestra, Scotland, France, Croatia and Las Palmas World Sax Congresses, NASA Sax Congress, and by Beaugeais herself in her own 40 min. saxophone concerto recorded by ABC Classic.

Beaugeais graduated with a PhD in Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on the dual role of a composer-performer. Her research is currently featured in Vandoren Paris, LA-based Voyage KC and Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain magazine.
